  SYNAPSE RUN — FACTIONS
===========================================================

Three factions run the parts of the city that matter.

Meridian Civic Authority patrols, permits and order.
                            Contacts: the plaza patrol, and
                            Sergeant Okafor at Precinct Seven.
The Free Ward the Lower Ward looking after its
                            own. Contacts: Riku, and Elder
                            Basa in the Stacks.
  Lowline netrunners who want Vantara's
                            servers dark. Contacts: Juno, and
                            Cipher at Junction Nine.

The Authority's rivals are the Free Ward and Lowline.

  STANDING
  -----------------------------------------------------------
Contracts, gigs and the enemies you put down all earn
standing with someone, and cost you a little with their
rivals. Ranks: known, trusted, made, inner circle. FACTIONS
shows where you stand and what each rank unlocks: perks,
and stock vendors keep for their own people.

  STORYLINES AND DAILY JOBS
  -----------------------------------------------------------
Okafor, Basa and Cipher each have a storyline of contracts
that opens as your rank rises, all the way to the inner
circle (that last one is for pledged runners). They also
post a daily job. One contract, the Red Ledger, is wanted
by all three: taking it for one side closes it for the
  others.

  PLEDGING
  -----------------------------------------------------------
From level 10, a faction that trusts you will take your
pledge (FACTIONS PLEDGE <name>, at its contact). It's for
good: gains with them count double, their rivals stop
trusting you past known, and only a pledged runner joins
  the inner circle.
